Big Welcome to Brittainy!
Brittainy is an LPC-Associate working under the supervision of Lauren Smith, M.A., LPC-S. She is super excited to join the ThrivED Together team and mission. We are equally excited to have her join us. She’s laid back, has a strong desire to learn, and super easy to talk with.
We wanted you all to get to know her like we have and thought it would be fun to do a little Q&A session with her so you can get to know her.
The meals she is currently providing support at are: breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday plus lunch on Thursday. She’d love to have you join her at one of those by registering on our site!
First, a little about you? How’d you get here? Why’d you choose therapy?
In college, I started off on the exercise physiology track, with the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist. During my junior year, I realized that I actually didn’t enjoy what I was learning or practicing, so I decided to change majors. I was able to recognize how beneficial therapy had been in my life, so I decided to finish up a bachelor’s degree in Professional Development and then move on to my master’s in Professional Counseling.
I have always felt drawn to work with clients struggling with Eating Disorders or Substance Abuse. I can’t tell you exactly why, but I’ve been very passionate about those specific topics since starting my master’s degree curriculum. I was really hoping to gain meaningful experience under a clinician who specialized in working with clients with Eating Disorders, and then I stumbled upon ThrivED! I was immediately impressed with the concept and the sense of community that Carol and Heather strive to build, and I just knew I had to get involved!
My favorite vacation spot so far is Santa Barbara, CA. Although I really liked Cabo when I visited.. and it’s tough to beat New York during Christmastime!
I really enjoy Tex-Mex food.. nachos, quesadillas, queso.
Favorite self-care activity?
I love a good bubble bath!
My favorite book is called Take the Stairs by Rory Vaden.
I love to read! I played golf in college, so I like to play golf when I can, too. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my husband and kiddos.
